The department consists of an Executive
Secretary/Human Resources Specialist and a three-member Civil
Service Commission who administer the provisions of Civil Service
Law and the City's merit system.
The office handles position classification,
personnel and leave records, employee benefits, retirement
Workers' Compensation programs, and disciplinary issue compliance. The
department is also responsible for the recruitment and hiring of City and
various Oneida School District personnel. Continuous recruitment exams are held
periodically for Typist, School Secretary, Account Clerk, Custodian, and other
similar positions. When needed, the City holds exams scheduled by the State
Civil Service Commission, such as Firefighter, Police Officer, Water Reader, etc
The open competitive examination announcements are
sent to libraries, post offices, colleges, county, city and employment
